Boeing Chinook and Rotary Rocket Roton Atmospheric Test Vehicle-Testing Concepts

51 x 53″
pencil on paper
2003

The Rotary Rocket Roton is a 64-foot aircraft designed to test the atmospheric flight phase of a future satellite launch vehicle. The drawing is the visual data from the attempt to airlift the Roton from Mojave to a Ramona museum. The Roton was lifted by a Chinook helicopter a half mile out into the Mojave Desert before the mission proved to be too risky. The Roton was returned to the Mojave Airport.
