This series of drawings began with a work commissioned by a prominent neuroscientist celebrating a career milestone. The ocean is built up from electrophysiological recordings of a brain wave pattern (theta) associated with memory encoding, a topic that occupied the scientist for much of his career. The ships are evocative of events in his past.
